Good question..We've done a lot of work
on this unit, to tweak out the max power, for the least cost.
We've bumped the processor, the cache chips,
the multiplier controllers, and the buss voltage. The results? It's faster! Our G3/400
upgrade outperforms many comparable Powerbook Lombards, due to the tweaking we've
done in buss and data handling.
Speed Comparison
It's really hard to give an exact comparison
of speed capability. The main test systems rarely give you a "real-world"
comparison, becuse it can be difficult to ascertain the avarage daily work process.
Our best comparisons will give you a good comparison to other similar systems. It
can be most useful to see the comparison of BEFORE & AFTER capabilities.
Processor speeds for the
Avanti show a 250% increase for CPU activities over the original processor (Wallstreet
series I). Your speed increase will vary slightly, depending on your original processor.
However, the MINIMUM gain is over 155% (comparing a WallstreetII/300mhz, upgraded
to Avanti 400/1mb)
