Has the DVD drive died on your Powerbook?
Here's an inexpensive and FAST repair!
Just unscrew your old module, and screw
our new one in place.
You must have the original case for this
to work. The repair will take 3-5 minutes, and you need a small screwdriver to do
it (order below if you don't have one the right size). There are four screws to remove,
then just slide out the old drive, slide the new one in, and you're back up &
running!
Lombard owners:
This drive can also be used to replace
your CD drive if you've got the CD version. It won't necessarily give you the upgrade
from CD to DVD capability (that depends on your Powerbook's logic board as well as
the DVD drive). Please note however, that if you use to upgrade, your old door bezel
(faceplate) might not fit. it will work fine-but it the bezel may be of different
shape.
NOW, our newest option!
If your unit used the old "8080B"
mechanism (which wasn't always the most reliable drive), you can now upgrade your
unit to the Panasonic unit! We've got the doors available, so you can convert your
unit to run Panasonic based units!
