FACEPLATES:

OEM drive mfr's use uniquely designed faceplates to match each drive to the iBook casing. If you decide to upgrade to a different drive, you'll need to order a matching faceplate to adapt it to your iBook.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT MY ORIGINAL DRIVE WAS?

OSX: Pull down Apple Menu to "about this Mac", then click "More Info" to open System Profiler. The drive mechanism will be displayed under "ATA" (OS 10.3 & 10.4), or "Volumes" (OS 10.2)

 

OS9: Pull down Apple Menu to Apple System Profiler, then click "Drives & Volumes"
